WordPress vs WooCommerce: What’s The Difference?
What is the difference between WordPress and WooCommerce?
WordPress is a content management system for building websites or blogs. Actually it is the world’s most popular CMS with 37% market share as of 2019.
WooCommerce is a plugin that you add to WordPress that allows you to turn WordPress into an e-commerce store.
In fact WooCommerce is used by 26% of online stores. That is more than any other e-commerce platform. WooCommerce is so popular because it extends WordPress’ functionality and helps you create your own online store for free.
WooCommerce adds the following to WordPress and much more:
- Products post type allowing for product pages.
- A shopping cart page.
- A checkout page.
- Ability to take payments.
- Ability to calculate shipping.
- Ability to manage inventory.
- Product ratings and reviews.
- Sales reporting.
